I have taken pictures of this little guy’s cousins (all girls) many times – it was really fun to meet him, and especially to be able to watch him dig into some cake at the studio! We also figured out we could use the side of our building for walking shots – those were my favorites from the session!
By the way, have you ever seen anything cuter than this kissy-face?

I’m going to warn you upfront – I’m over-sharing from this session. This was Sadie’s last session from her baby plan, and I love that her Mama said to me “I’m open – is there anything creative you’ve been wanting to do?”… I mean really – you can’t say that to a photographer and not mean it… I suggested I come to their house on a weekday morning, and spend some time with Sadie in her own environment. We let her eat some cake (after all, this was her 1st birthday session), then I tagged along when she got cleaned up, and then we headed to this DREAM of a play room, where gorgeous light was coming in… If you look at nothing else – page down to the last set of images – because this was that ‘not planned’ last minute inspiration – to ask her Mama to read to her, and it was magic! I hope to be able to photograph more babies and kids in this way – they just seem so natural in their own house, and I get to see little bits of personality that I may miss at the studio!

Back in January when we were having a particularly nice day, I took my girls to a new spot I’d found, to see how I’d like it for pictures. I couldn’t believe it when my oldest actually agreed to be my model, and these are some of my favorite portraits of her – EVER. My youngest… well… my youngest… What can I say – what would my life be like if she didn’t raise my blood pressure a bit now and then – and despite that, I still managed to get a few of her that I equally love… Anyway – meet Emma (6) and Kate (4):

I thought I was finished with 2012 sessions in early December, but luckily, Hudson came to see me just a few days before the new year, and I was able to get some of the sweetest newborn images ever – SO glad I was able to end the year on such a high note! And YES – this is my last blog post highlighting a 2012 session! Okay – if I’m being completely honest, I have two weddings from 2012 yet to blog – but those will be coming soon, I promise! I was thrilled to be asked to take some more commercial images for the famous Smocked Auctions again at the end of last year. Many of the items were for spring, so I had to wait to post any – but now that Easter is behind us – I can post away! These two little girls are so adorable, and were awesome little models for me! I hope to see them again soon!

This marks the third year I have had the privilege of photographing these adorable kids – well, technically, it’s only the second year for Miss Harper, who is 2 years old (her big brothers had just found out they were getting a sister the first time I photographed them!). This year we decided to dress them up and use downtown Rockwall as our backdrop, which has some amazing beautiful locations just before the holidays, when these were taken! It was also fun to see them again outside of school – the oldest is in class with my Emma, and the 3rd boy is in class with my Kate – and these are the nicest boys you’ll ever meet (and Miss Harper is pretty darn adorable herself). Can’t wait until next year!

I try my best not to play favorites, both when it comes to my kids, and also to my sessions, which are kinda like my kids! Each session is unique, and has elements that I fall in love with. In the case of this family – we had to reschedule their first session due to bad weather, and ended up scheduling in the evening (instead of the original morning timeslot). I’m so glad we did – I was able to make use of the downtown Rockwall square in a new way, and the lighting was perfection! It helps when the family is as adorable as this one, and although I SAY I don’t play favorites – this was truly one of my favorites from the fall…
Meet the J family. They are not just clients – they are family friends. Also – they are the VERY first family that ever let me take family portraits (and newborn portraits, now that I’m thinking about it!), and I’m forever grateful at what that has allowed me to do. When you are around them, you wish you were part of their family, and that speaks volumes. Scroll down to see their first family portrait from 2008 – we’ve both come a long way!
I can’t believe I haven’t blogged this yet – this was an event I’d been wanting to do for a while, and I LOVE how it turned out! A simple white background, and I invited kids to come in their holiday pajamas, and let their colorful clothes and adorable personalities shine! I am already planning next year’s event!

This fall marked three years that I’ve been taking portraits of these three brothers. They are some of the sweetest boys I’ve ever met, and luckily their mom and I have already agreed upon an arranged marriage between her oldest, and my daughter Emma – so I should be photographing them for years to come! Ha!
