It's here, It's here!  Ballerina Portraits is back for a second year - and I couldn't be more excited!  I have partnered with Ms. Tiffany of Dance Techniques, a local dance company teaching dance to small children in daycares and preschools in the Dallas area.  Tiffany has over 20 years of experience teaching little ones, and has a special way with posing them PERFECTLY for these sweet portraits - so I'm thrilled that she agreed to be a part of this event again this year!  If you'd like to see more samples - I'm going to post some of last year's cuties up on Facebook - so head on over to see more. We'll be in Rockwall at Wee Dreamscapes on Saturday, September 24th.  Note that the September 25th date near Firewheel has been cancelled.  An appointment and $20 deposit is required to book.  Ms. Tiffany will be sending a note to her students within the next couple days, and I expect slots to go quickly when that happens - so if you'd like to snag a spot - please give me a call. ***NEW***  Now available - online scheduling!  Just click here, and follow the steps to choose your appointment time and pay your deposit! Every time a 7-month old comes to the studio to be photographed, I'm reminded why I love this age - they are big enough to sit up, smile big for me, but they can't get away!  Well - at least *most* babies are that way...  Little Emily is so tiny - you'd never guess she was crawling already, and definitely made us sweat a little!  Every time I have a baby this age in the studio, it reminds me of the first time my youngest daughter, Kate, sat up on her own for the first time...  She was 5.5 months, and I didn't really think she could sit up - but a client had just left, and I had a cute red backdrop up, and I thought - maybe I can kinda prop her a little, and get a cute close-up...  I couldn't believe my eyes when she sat unassisted for 4-5 minutes while I was able to capture the milestone - studio lights and all!  It just amazes me to see how much my littlest clients have grown between sessions - I hope I have the chance to watch all of them grow for many years to come! I love when families come back for new portraits - it gives me a chance to see how much the kiddos have grown, and it's also fun to come up with new ideas to make their portraits unique.  This family is a blast to shoot, because they are always up for just about anything!  I took them to Downtown Royse City because there are so many different and fun places to choose from.  My favorites seem to always come from the end of the shoot, after everyone is relaxed and comfortable - it makes me glad that I said "wait - just a couple more!"... Lyric is a freshman this year at Rockwall High School, and I was excited to give her the opportunity to show off her new uniform a little bit!  Doing her session really reminded me how much fun it is to capture kids who participate in sports in their uniforms - so you can always remember, and they can have a great time doing it!  My oldest daughter, Emma, just started kindergarten at The Fulton School in Heath - and she is stoked to be a part of the Junior Cheerleading Squad there - as soon as we get her uniform - you can bet I'll have some of these up on the blog of her!  If you might be interested in some "Sports Shots" of your child - please drop me a note - if I get enough interest - I'll schedule a weekend date for some mini-sessions! This blog post, while very late, is fitting today - because today I actually shot this beautiful couple's newborn portraits of their 6-day old son.  These maternity portraits were taken back in July - it was the beginning of this heat wave we are in - and T & Patchi were such troupers - they agreed to meet at 7:30 a.m. (that's IN THE MORNING) to get their session done before it got too hot.  We were able to use a private residence with a yard that was a DREAM - I so love shooting in new locations!  If you'd like to check out their new son - head on over to my Facebook page - I just posted a quick one today, because I could not stand to share at least one! I also have to add...  Lately I have had an opportunity to do more maternity portraits, and then come back later for newborn portraits.  Part of what I do is capture the connections and relationships of a family - whether it be one just in the beginning stages, or one that has been going strong for some time.  I find it makes such a huge difference when I have a chance to meet a couple and get to know them during their maternity session - the newborn session just seems that much more special, and I really do feel like I gain new friends with each couple I meet and follow through this exciting first year!
